GP-led weight management including GLP-1 medications where clinically appropriate.
Medical weight management has evolved significantly. Where appropriate, our GPs can assess your eligibility for evidence-based pharmacological treatments alongside diet and lifestyle modifications.
Prescribing guidelines generally require a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 or above with at least one weight-related comorbidity such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, or obstructive sleep apnoea. Your GP will conduct a comprehensive assessment including medical history, current medications, and relevant blood work.
We treat weight loss as a medical condition, not a cosmetic concern. Your consultation covers metabolic health, hormonal factors, cardiovascular risk, and psychological wellbeing. If medication is clinically appropriate, your GP prescribes the most suitable option and schedules regular follow-ups to monitor progress and adjust treatment.
Medications prescribed on private prescription are not PBS-subsidised for weight loss and are paid at full private pricing at your pharmacy.
